How We Work

Our Founder

Dr. Stephen J. Thompson, EdD, MA, CCWS, CHRS

Dr. Stephen J. Thompson is a scholar-practitioner, organizational resilience consultant, qualitative researcher, and leadership advisor helping organizations build healthier workplaces where people, leadership, and performance thrive. Originally from Nassau, The Bahamas, he brings more than a decade of international experience across organizational leadership, workforce well-being, humanitarian practice, and trauma-informed organizational development.


As Founder and CEO of Thompson Counseling & Consulting, Dr. Thompson leads an organizational consulting practice that delivers fractional organizational resilience and well-being advisory services. His work includes organizational assessments, executive advising, qualitative research, leadership development, workforce well-being strategy, staff care frameworks, learning design, and organizational capacity strengthening.


Selected Leadership Experience

Dr. Thompson currently serves as Director of EAP Development, Solutions & Partnerships (Founding Role) at Anchora Alliance, leading the development of a global Employee Assistance Program, trauma-informed service models, clinical governance frameworks, and scalable workplace mental health solutions. He also serves as Senior Strategic Advisor for Mental Health & Organizational Well-being at Reju, advising on learning content, trauma-informed leadership, organizational strategy, and AI-enabled workplace mental health solutions.


Previously, he served as Director of Global Partnerships, Programs & Impact at Headington Institute, supporting more than 40 partner organizations across over 20 countries. Before that, he was Senior Advisor for Global Staff Care & Well-being at Catholic Relief Services, providing strategic leadership for staff care, psychological safety, and critical incident response across a workforce operating in more than 100 countries.


Research and Credentials

Dr. Thompson earned an EdD in Organizational Leadership and Development from Walden University. His doctoral research examined what humanitarian leaders need from leadership development to foster psychological safety, resilience, and organizational well-being in complex environments. He also holds an MA in Clinical Forensic Psychology and certifications as a Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist and Certified Health Reform Specialist.


Whether serving as a researcher, executive advisor, keynote speaker, facilitator, or fractional consultant, Dr. Thompson translates research into practical strategies that help organizations cultivate resilient leaders, healthier teams, and sustainable systems.
